Crew96 Recognizes Frontline Workers

With First Structural Steel Column Erected at Crew Stadium

Columbus, OH - July 15, 2023 -

Crew96, the Columbus-based soccer club, hosted a special ceremony today to recognize frontline workers and celebrate the start of construction on their new stadium, Crew Stadium. The event featured the erection of the first structural steel column, a symbolic milestone in the stadium's development.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Crew96 ownership group, team staff, and frontline workers from various industries, including healthcare, law enforcement, and education. Crew96 President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko thanked the frontline workers for their dedication and hard work, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are honored to have these amazing individuals here today," said Bezbatchenko. "Their contributions to our community are invaluable, and we are proud to recognize them with this special event." The first structural steel column, which weighs approximately 60,000 pounds, was signed by frontline workers and Crew96 players before being hoisted into place. The column is the first of many that will form the framework of the new stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2024. The new stadium will be a state-of-the-art facility that will host Crew96 matches and other events. It will also serve as a community gathering place and a destination for sports and entertainment enthusiasts.
